Surah Al-A'laa

(سورة الأَعۡلَىٰ)
Surah 87 • Category: Meccan • Verses: 19
1

سَبِّحِ اسۡمَ رَبِّكَ الۡاَعۡلَىۙ

English Translation
Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
2

الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰى ۙ

English Translation
Who created and proportioned
3

وَالَّذِىۡ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰى ۙ

English Translation
And who destined and [then] guided
4

وَالَّذِىۡۤ اَخۡرَجَ الۡمَرۡعٰى ۙ

English Translation
And who brings out the pasture
5

فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَآءً اَحۡوٰىؕ

English Translation
And [then] makes it black stubble.
6

سَنُقۡرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنۡسٰٓىۙ

English Translation
We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget,
7

اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰهُ​ؕ اِنَّهٗ يَعۡلَمُ الۡجَهۡرَ وَمَا يَخۡفٰىؕ

English Translation
Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
8

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلۡيُسۡرٰى ​ۖ​ۚ

English Translation
And We will ease you toward ease.
9

فَذَكِّرۡ اِنۡ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكۡرٰىؕ

English Translation
So remind, if the reminder should benefit;
10

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنۡ يَّخۡشٰىۙ

English Translation
He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.
11

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الۡاَشۡقَىۙ

English Translation
But the wretched one will avoid it -
12

الَّذِىۡ يَصۡلَى النَّارَ الۡكُبۡرٰى​ۚ

English Translation
[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,
13

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوۡتُ فِيۡهَا وَلَا يَحۡيٰىؕ

English Translation
Neither dying therein nor living.
14

قَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ مَنۡ تَزَكّٰىۙ

English Translation
He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
15

وَذَكَرَ اسۡمَ رَبِّهٖ فَصَلّٰى​ ؕ

English Translation
And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.
16

بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُوۡنَ الۡحَيٰوةَ الدُّنۡيَا ۖ

English Translation
But you prefer the worldly life,
17

وَالۡاٰخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ وَّ اَبۡقٰىؕ

English Translation
While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
18

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَفِى الصُّحُفِ الۡاُوۡلٰىۙ

English Translation
Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,
19

صُحُفِ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ وَمُوۡسٰى ۧ

English Translation
The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
